AGM 2005 Report

Ben Attendees

Much discussion from the floor

This is a short summary of the AGM held on 11th March 2005 at the RSYC. The AGM was well attended this year with residents from more than half of the properties in Cadland Court either present at the meeting or having sent in apologies.

Reports

As there were no matters arising from last years minutes which would not be covered by the current Agenda, the Chairman, Heather Murphy presented her report. She thanked the committee and all those the residents who had helped during the year. In particular, Ben James who, as member of the Joint Residents committee, had coordinated our input to the re-apportionment process. We should all thank Ben and the other committee members for their work which has resulted in a reduction of 16% of our service charge. Heather commented that the two social occasions (BBQ and Christmas Drinks) had been very successful.

Margaret Boyles gave the secretary's report, reporting that Alan Murphy had put together a prototype website for inspection and comment. We await your comments regarding this.

The treasurer, Suzie James, reported the bank balance had grown a little to £174, mainly due to the profit made from a raffle during the BBQ.

Election of Committee

As Heather Murphy wished to stand down as Chairman, due to family commitments, Ian White was nominated as Chairman. Heather agreed to be co-opted as Deputy Chairman. Margaret and Suzie agreed to continue in their posts, Rush Dray seconded the nominations and the committee was elected unanimously.

Topics

Ben James and Henry Barff were looking into the technical aspects of the Quay wall repair work. They reported on two options. Tenders are out at present and they will report back later regarding the best option. However, as this also affects the other two courts it will be a Joint Committee decision.

Regarding the resurfacing of the courtyards the committee and FPDSavill/MDL are looking at a number of alternatives. Ian asked how many people would wish to improve the area directly in front of the house, even though this may require a small contribution. There was a unanimous vote in favour of this approach.

In general the Car Parking policy has worked well, but there are one or two minor problems which need attention (only one visitors pass and the occasional non-resident parker).

Now that we have our own recycling bin in the Cadland enclosure, Ian urged residents to make more use of this facility. The more we recycle, the less goes into the general waste bins.

Events for 2005

It was suggested that the popular BBQ should be moved to a Saturday evening around the time of the Southampton Boat Show. The Christmas party will be in December as usual.

It was decided to leave the subscription unchanged for 2005.

The meeting closed at 9:15pm and several members retired to the bar.
