I have spoken to some Barclays retirees this weekend who, as we know, have an ongoing situation with the bank. Throughout the bank have kept them advised of developments and anticipated decision dates. This has been done by post using the Bank facilities and in an unbiased fashion. Unless I have been missing them I do not appear to have received a word from IBM not even a response from the article in The Times. Have they made any announcements directly to the retirees? I see they have sent out something to current employees presumeably to protect current employee morale.

I have been totally unaware of this unsatisfactory situation until today when I received an e-mail from a current IBM employee. I took early retirement in May 2000.
Is this situation true for most of IBM retirees? If so then there must be a way of finding out the names of those who have retired during the last 5, 10 15 (?) years and informing them of what is happening.

I have not received anything through the post either. The statement to current employees from Paul Rogers is now available on this site (see link below) as it concerns retirees and it is not available elsewhere.

IBM do have an internal site for active members, but no external site for retirees. There is nothing to stop IBM from posting statements or announcements to retirees on this Message Board.

I do not believe that the note from Paul Rogers did anything to
raise morale - in fact the opposite was true from the reaction of
my colleagues.
