There is an interesting article ref Mr Myners of Gartmore who is heading a Treasury review of institutional pensions in the newspapers today; concerns fraud and transparency in corporate (and other) pension funds and a series of suggested measures to combat this. Plainly has happened yet but it highlights the problems.

: Can you provide a URL to the article? or even which paper.
It was in the FT yesterday - if you go to ft.com and search on pensions you will find it.

my rather rapid reading is that basically he says it is still pretty easy to raid a company pension fund - and that the employees should get more benefit from the fund - also that the asset management should be by a totally independent party - and that in any case there should be complete transparency on what is happening to the fund. there is plainly some form of government review process going on - but what the process is I don't know.
